The Data Recovery Process

Evaluating Your Drive
We do not charge for evaluating your data. Once we receive your hard drive it will be logged into our system & queued for evaluation by one of our data recovery technicians. We will provide you with our initial diagnosis, total recovery cost and estimated completion date within 24 of receiving your hard drive. (72hrs for Clean Room evaluation).

Recovering Your Data
Upon receiving your approval to proceed, your hard drive will be "cloned" (The integrity of your data is never placed in jeopardy as all recovery procedures are performed on an exact sector by sector duplicate of your original drive) and re-queued for the actual recovery procedures. If you have requested expedited service after the evaluation, your hard drive will circumvent the recovery queue & become "next in line" for recovery.

Data Security
Keeping your data secure is a very high priority for us. With or without an agreement, we treat your data with the utmost security.

Returning Your Data
If your hard drive is repairable, and in our opinion will stay repaired, we will return your data on your repaired drive. If it is determined that your drive cannot be repaired, we can return your recovered data in a variety of ways, including copying it to a new hard drive, write-able CD, Zip/Jazz cartridge, or tape system.
We will keep a copy of your data for one week to ensure the successful re-installation of your data. Once your data is re-installed, your data will be purged from our storage vaults.

Unrecoverable Data
There are instances where the damage to the hard drive is so severe that data recovery is not possible. This usually occurs when the read/write heads actually "crash" and gouge the magnetic storage media to the point where the data is destroyed.

However, in a number of cases data recovery was possible at the time the damage first occurred, but became non-recoverable through the use of commercial recovery software. This software is designed to recover data from working drives. If your drive has experienced a mechanical or electrical failure, the use of recovery software can cause permanent loss of your data.

Standard Data Recovery
Most recoveries will be completed in 2-5 days. Upon receiving your drive at DRG, our technicians will diagnose the problem and determine if data can be recovered.
Next, we will determine exactly what procedures will be involved and how extensive the damage is, then furnish you with a verbal report. If you wish to proceed with the recovery process, your job will be placed in the job queue and your data will be recovered in the order it was received.

Expedited Data Recovery
If you should need this service, a dedicated technician will be assigned to your drive within 4 hours of the time that we receive your hard disk. Working on your drive (during normal business hours) until the recovery is complete. This process will normally cut your turnaround time in half.

Emergency Data Recovery
We realize your need to have special services occasionally (weekdays, holidays, and after hours). If your situation is critical, we will try to make arrangements for a technician to be available who will be assigned to work on your recovery until complete.

Our goal is to return your data to you within two to five working days. However, because of the complexity of data recovery there will be times when it will take longer. After performing our initial evaluation, we will provide you with an estimated time to restore your lost data.
